What is Periodontal Disease?

Dental disease is the most common problem seen in our pet population today. More than 85% of all dogs and cats over the age of 3 are affected by dental problems-most of which cannot be seen by the pet’s owner. Periodontal disease is the cause of your pet’s bad breath and painful mouth, and can cause infections in the kidneys, liver, and heart.

This short video, created by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), provides additional information on periodontal disease.
