Hi! My name is Jodi Elskamp and I guess you could call me the relief technician here at Rockford Veterinary Clinic. I work mostly on Saturdays as well as filling in here and there when needed.
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved animals. This passion for pets led me to choose a career in the Veterinary field. I attended the University of Minnesota – Waseca and in 1991 graduated with an AAS degree in Veterinary Technology. College is also where I met my husband, Jim.
My schooling ended with an internship at the University of Minnesota’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital and then to a clinic in Minnetonka (Glen Lake Animal Hospital). It was at Glen Lake where I met and first started working with Dr. Barlow. I remained working at Glen Lake until 2000, when I had another calling to be a full time mother to our first son, William. In 2002, Dr. Barlow purchased Rockford Veterinary Clinic and I decided to go back to work for him part time. October 2004 my family grew again when Joseph, our son, was born.
What I like best about working at Rockford Veterinary Clinic (other than wonderful co-workers!) is that it’s in a in a small community. People and their pets aren’t just a number or name – you get to know them!
Outside of the veterinary clinic, you could say my house is “Camp Chaos”. Besides having nine and five year old boys, we have a “herd” of pets. We have a Rat Terriers (Buzz), two Labs (Elsie & Koda), five cats (Zoom, T-Kee, Sock Monkey, Moo & Vinny), a fish tank and homing pigeons. Chaos, yes, and I also drive a school bus part time! If my life wasn’t a zoo, I would be really lost!
